Back in the early 80's, when The Sugarhill Gang were helping to invent rap music, I was working the summer as a dj at the local college radio station. Now, we're talking about a small college in a small town who's only other radio station, which played C&W in the morning, Adult contempary between 10 & 2, AC & Top 40 in the afternoon, and then in the evening would sprinkle in some R&R, would just barely out-cover the range of the low-watt college station that I worked at. So, we're not talking about a place that exactly embraced rap music. But, because I loved just about everything that was released, around that time, on the Sugarhill record label, I really fell in love with The Sugarhill Gang, especially the song that this one samples..."8th Wonder." It was the first song that I played every shift that I worked, and I hope that I somewhat influenced others to enjoy the rap sound.

I'd like to give a big shout-out to all the visitors to this blog. Last Month, we had the most visitors ever, and it's good to know that most still enjoy their visits here. Not only that, but this week we just passed 1,000,000 visitors. I would love to hear, every now & then, which songs you really enjoyed, or even which ones you couldn't stand. Thanks again to everyone!!

While I have your attention (hopefully), I'd like to mention a few things. I'm looking to get into the remixing field, and was lucky enough to have an artist, Seldom Seen, agree to let me remix a song of his. I could easily just use any mp3 that I already have, but I really wanted to work with the original vocal & instrumental tracks. I had previously posted a few remixes of his song, "Stilettos," one of which made my list of top ten dance songs of 2007. The song that he will be sending me can be found on his myspace page and is called "Tramp Stamp." Be sure to check it out here.

Another reason that I brought this up is because I am thinking of changing my dj name. I've always used skin2skin as sort of a goof, but it seemed to catch on after awhile. I would like to have more of an accessible moniker, one that would not be, sort of, embarassing, but also have it use part of my real name. I am almost certain that it will be:
